REL International Women’s Day Lunch, supported by RECD

On Friday 4 March, we hosted the Real Estate Learn International Women’s day lunch, supported by Real Estate Career Developers.

The lunch event was the perfect display of women supporting each other and embodied the REL ethos of coming together as a group of like-minded peers to share, learn and grow.

International Women’s Day is celebrated on March 8, however the theme lasts all year long. This year’s theme #BreaktheBias encourages us to actively call out gender bias, discrimination and stereotyping each time we see it.

This year, we were lucky enough to have two fabulous guest speakers who shared their own experiences with bias and equality within their chosen fields.

Louise Staley is the current Member for Ripon in Western Victoria and the Victorian Shadow Minister for Transport Infrastructure, Roads and Regional Recovery.

Dr Heather Holst is the Victorian Commissioner for Residential Tenancies. Heather worked for many years in homelessness and affordable housing before being appointed Victoria’s first Commissioner for Residential Tenancies in 2018.

With 120+ attendees from the real estate industry, the lunch was also a great opportunity to network with industry peers, come together as a community of people to support each other, have fun while connecting and opening your mind, all while challenging perspectives and bias’.

We thought we’d ask our own team to highlight some of their key takeaways from the event…

Thank you to all those who attended the REL International Women’s Day lunch and to all those who made it possible, including our fabulous sponsors:

Imagine a gender-equal world.

A world free of bias, stereotypes, and discrimination.

A world that is diverse, equitable, and inclusive.

A world where difference is valued and celebrated.

Together we can forge women’s equality.

Collectively we can all #BreakTheBias.
